Los Angeles-based artist Amir H. Fallah will present his new sound work, What it Means to be American. The half hour piece is a sequence of voices speaking about their experiences living in the United States as an immigrant or part of an immigrant family. The speakers convey the many complicated feelings of belonging and otherness in the very place you call home. These clips are from his interviews with the subjects of his recent body of portraits of immigrants in his community. Fallah is known for his project-based series of portrait paintings, which explore identity and personal narrative through his subjects’ interactions with objects and their environments.
Amir H. Fallah is represented by, and has works available, with Untitled, San Francisco exhibitor Denny Gallery (New York).
