Diamond Sea, 2007
White LEDs, mirror finished stainless steel, custom software electrical hardware
120 x 180 x 6 inches
Leo Villareal returns to the Bay Area with Diamond Sea, a large-scale work that utilizes white LEDs, echoing the software created for the artist’s monumental The Bay Lights - a light sculpture installed on the Bay Bridge. Diamond Sea characterizes the artist’s interest in minimalism, architecture, and a living, breathing atmosphere, that engages perceptions of time, the nature of communication and the interpretation of emotional states through the use of light.
Leo Villareal is presented by Sandra Gering Inc. (New York).
