Recology is an employee-owned company that provides collection, recycling, disposal, and composting services to communities in California, Oregon, and Washington. In 1990, Recology founded its Artist in Residence (AIR) Programs to support artists who create work from materials that have been discarded. For Untitled, San Francisco, Recology will present former Recology Artist in Residence Ramekon O’Arwisters’ Crochet Jam, a rag-rug making event that allows fairgoers to work together on a piece of art.


Ramekon O’Arwisters is a social-practice artist who is known for creating collaborative, community-based projects infused with folk-art traditions that foster a culture of community building. Crochet Jam, is an on-going, participatory event that invites members of the community to work together on a piece of art with a focus on liberation, relaxation, and human connection.
