Rajiv Menon Contemporary is proud to present I-POP, a panel exploring India’s massively rising influence in the world of art and fashion. In particular, the panel will explore how popular Indian aesthetics foster new conversations between “East” and “West.” While East Asia dominates the conversation on Asian pop art, Indian visuality, especially in textile and design, is informing a new wave of popular and folk-driven aesthetics. As India navigates its rise as a cultural superpower, its visual culture increasingly shapes global ways of seeing. This panel explores I-POP (Indian Popular Aesthetics) in all its manifestations, and hones in on how this is a cultural force in the art and fashion world. The panel will demonstrate why India is one of the most significant art and cultural centers in the world today, and bring this vital conversation to a new audience in Miami.
This panel was moderated by Iva Dixit, featuring Rajiv Menon and Anamika Khanna, and was recorded at Untitled Art, Miami Beach on December 5, 2024.
