Celebrating its largest presentation of artists and galleries inclusive of Eastern European, Asia Pacific, Middle Eastern, and Asian diaspora, the 13th edition of Untitled Art, Miami Beach reinforces the market’s need for continued growth beyond the traditional Western understanding of geography.

Miami Beach, FL (December 11, 2024) – The 13th edition of Untitled Art, Miami Beach came to a close on Sunday, December 8, with a robust contingent of 176 exhibitors from 34 countries, expanding the global reach of the fair’s programming. Guided by the curatorial theme ‘East Meets West,’ the 2024 fair highlighted artistic dialogues across global cultures, thanks to the leadership of Guest Curators Kathy Huang and Jungmin Cho. This vision culminated in the largest-ever representation of artists and galleries from the East during Miami Art Week, reinforcing the fair’s role as a key platform for international collaboration and exchange.

Held from December 4 to 8, with a VIP and Press Preview on December 3, Untitled Art, Miami Beach welcomed record-breaking attendance, attracting collectors, museum directors, curators, and art enthusiasts from around the world. Among the highlights was the expansion of the fair’s innovative ‘Nest’ sector, dedicated to supporting emerging galleries. This initiative underscored Untitled Art’s commitment to diversity and inclusion, fostering opportunities for underrepresented voices in the art world.

Galleries embracing the curatorial theme of “East Meets West” brought greater experimentation and conceptual approaches to this year’s edition. The result was a strong market response with sales reported throughout the week that reflected the mid-market's strength, with many selling to institutions and private collectors in Miami and internationally. Many galleries sold out their booths and exhibiting artists, including ALMA PEARL (London, UK), Gallery 1957 (Accra, Ghana / London, UK), Rajiv Menon Contemporary (Los Angeles, CA), TERN Gallery (Nassau, The Bahamas), Victoria Miro Projects (London, UK), Stems Gallery (Brussels, Belgium / Paris, France), El Apartamento (La Habana, Cuba / Madrid, Spain), COHJU (Kyoto, Japan), Carl Freedman Gallery (Margate, UK), and Neon Parc (Melbourne, Australia), among others.

Looking ahead, Untitled Art will maintain its dedication to year-round programming in the lead-up to its newest venture: Untitled Art, Houston, set to debut in September 2025 at the George R. Brown Convention Center under the direction of Michael Slenske.

“With this year’s success in Miami Beach, we are energized by the potential to build on our mission of nurturing greater inclusivity, delivering innovative programming, and expanding our reach,” said Clara Andrade, Executive Director of Untitled Art. “We thank all who made the 2024 fair a great success, and we look forward to continuing this momentum into our upcoming Houston edition.”

For the 13th edition, Untitled Art awarded a total of eight prizes, underscoring its dedication to supporting exhibitors and their artists. Vortic returned as a Digital and Prize Partner, presenting a curated digital exhibition that built upon the 2024 curatorial theme ‘East Meets West.’ The debut Vortic Artist Prize was awarded to Shu Okamoto for his work The Screen with the Sudare, 2022, presented by COHJU (Kyoto, Japan), Jhonatan Pulido for his piece Papayo, 2024, presented by ALMA PEARL (London, United Kingdom) and Tarini Sethi, whose practice explores the digital space and its potential for the creation and display of art, presented by Rajiv Menon Contemporary (Los Angeles, CA).

Untitled Art’s Best Booth Prize was awarded to Pi Artworks (London, United Kingdom / Istanbul, Turkey) for the gallery’s solo presentation by British artist Jyll Bradley. Through her installation Within a Budding Grove, comprising photography, sculpture, wallpaper and text works, Bradley explores ‘queering minimalism’ – a term she uses to describe how abstraction and minimalism can embody coded personal narratives and experiences. Additional prize winners included Ha Jin Lee (Project K, Seoul, Korea), winner of the inaugural CAMPO Artist-in-Residence Prize; Gary Tyler (Library Street Collective, Detroit, MI), winner of the Last Resort Artist Retreat Residency Prize; Bunmi Augusto (kó, Lagos, Nigeria), who was awarded the CCA Andratx Artist-in-Residence Prize; and Octavio Abúndez (CURRO, Guadalajara, Mexico) and Christiane Peschek (SANATORIUM, Istanbul, Turkey), recipients of the Fountainhead Residency Artist Prize. New acquisitions at the fair were made possible by the 21c Museum Hotels Prize and first-time Prize Partner Pardon Collection for artists whose work aligned with the 2024 curatorial theme, respectively including Arleene Correa Valencia (Catharine Clark Gallery, San Francisco, CA) and Gretchen Andrews (TENDER, New York, NY) and Ghost of a Dream (Geary, Millerton, NY) by 21c Museum Hotels; and David Akelhuogie (Yancey Richardson, New York, NY) and Bo Kim (BHAK, Seoul, Korea) by the Pardon Collection.

The fair’s program included six performances and over 14 panel discussions as part of the Untitled Art Podcast and its editorial platforms, further solidifying its reputation as a hub for innovation and dialogue within the contemporary art scene. Curated by Artistic Director-at-Large Omar López-Chahoud, Untitled Art’s Special Projects sector explored historical and emerging perspectives. Highlights included El Patio, 1988 by Judy Pfaff, presented by Cristin Tierney Gallery (New York, NY), Ibrahim El-Salahi’s Pain Relief (2016), presented by Vigo Gallery (London, UK), a series of drawings exhibited in the U.S. for the first time ahead of El-Salahi’s solo show at The Institute of Contemporary Art (ICA) Miami in 2025, and El Apartamento’s (La Habana, Cuba / Madrid, Spain) presentation of Reynier Leyva Novo’s Federal Cleaning, 2024, acquired by esteemed Miami-based collectors and institutional patrons Darlene and Jorge M. Pérez.

Curatorial programming also included dynamic panel discussions featuring artists, curators, museum directors, journalists, non-profit organizations and partner institutions. Topics ranged from the future of art criticism to fostering inclusivity in institutions and East-West intersections in art and fashion. Notable speakers included Patrick Charpenel (El Museo del Barrio), Max Durón (2023 Rabkin Prize winner), designer Anamika Khanna, Carlie Porterfield (The Art Newspaper), Owen Duffy (Nancy C. Allen Curator and Director of Exhibitions at Asia Society Texas), Iberia Pérez González (Andrew W. Mellon Caribbean Cultural Institute Curatorial Associate at PAMM), Yesiyu Zhao (artist and curator of Alien at David Castillo, Miami), and Dr. Scotney Evans (Associate Professor and Chair in the Department of Educational and Psychological Studies at the University of Miami). The fifth season of the Untitled Art Podcast will extend access to these discussions to global audiences.

Untitled Art, Miami Beach exhibitors said:

"We are honored to have received the Best Booth Prize at Untitled Art, Miami Beach, during our debut at the fair. This recognition reflects the thoughtful reception of our presentation and the exceptional environment fostered by the fair. Under Clara Andrade Pereira’s visionary leadership, the team created an inspiring and collaborative platform that encourages meaningful dialogue and discovery."

  • Jade Y. Turanli, Director, Pi Artworks (London, United Kingdom / Istanbul, Turkey)

"For our fourth time exhibiting at Untitled Art, we were prepared to reconnect with collectors we’d met previously, but still went in a little nervous due to general market concerns. Our fears were proven to be absolutely unfounded as we sold almost everything off the walls on opening day and by all three artists we had proposed. After a considerable re-hang (we’ve now changed it up three times!), we continued to make steady sales every day to a range of both returning and new collectors as well as institutions. The aisles were buzzing almost daily with very few quiet moments and it feels like Untitled Art continues to be the relaxed, fun and energizing fair, which still delivers serious work at an elevated level. We couldn’t be more thrilled.”

  • Amanda Coulson, Director, TERN Gallery (Nassau, The Bahamas)

"This was our second time participating in Untitled Art and we were absolutely delighted with the response to the work of our Colombian artist Jhonatan Pulido. All the works on the booth were placed in either important private or institutional collections. We were also hugely impressed by the excellent level of collectors and curators who visited and this continued throughout the week. This engagement will have a significant impact on our program."

  • Celeste Baracchi, Director, Alma Pearl (London, United Kingdom)

“This is our third time participating in Untitled Art, a fair that offers enormous diversity. For years, Untitled Art has provided a vital platform that has helped us showcase Puerto Rican artists on a global stage. The reception from collectors from San Juan and abroad has been positive and we look forward to returning for years to come.”

  • Yiyo Tirado Rivera, Director, El Kilómetro (San Juan, Puerto Rico)

"I am honored that Space Willing N Dealing's first art fair in the United States is Untitled Art. I was very happy to introduce the works of talented Korean artists, Lee Sejun and Nam Jinu, in the United States for the first time. It was also very fun to interact with visitors and collectors who strongly engaged with the work. In addition, the programming to discuss contemporary art such as the podcast and the passion and effort of the staff were all very positive experiences.”

  • Kim Inseon, Director, Space Willing N Dealing (Seoul, Korea)
