Miami Beach, FL. August 27, 2024 – Leading contemporary art fair Untitled Art, Miami Beach announces 171 exhibitors in its 2024 edition for its largest presentation to date. The 2024 fair will be held on Miami Beach between Ocean Drive and 12th Street from Wednesday, December 4 to Sunday, December 8, with a VIP and Press Preview on Tuesday, December 3.
Led by an ongoing dedication to increasing diversity and representation across the contemporary art market, Untitled Art’s 2024 program is shaped by a curatorial focus of “East Meets West”. This theme expands upon past presentations of the fair that aimed to nurture greater inclusivity through a focus on gender equality and digital accessibility but this year looks to embrace a more global outlook, making room for more cultural voices from around the globe. Guided by two guest curators, Kathy Huang, an independent curator and Managing Director, Art Advisory and Special Projects at Jeffrey Deitch, New York, and Jungmin Cho, Founder and director of the art space WHITE NOISE, Seoul, this year’s curatorial theme acts as a bridge between cultures while challenging traditional understandings of “East” and “West.” Through this conceptual focus, Untitled Art showcases the universality of contemporary art while giving a platform to lesser-known artists and communities not just from Asia but artists, galleries and non-profits based in Eastern Europe, the Middle East, Asia Pacific and the Asian diaspora.
This year’s edition features more exhibitors from Eastern regions than ever before including Loft Art Gallery, Casablanca and Marrakesh, Morocco; Lazy Mike, Riga, Latvia and Seoul, Korea; Richard Koh Fine Art, Singapore, and Bangkok, Thailand; Vin Gallery, Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam; Con_, Tokyo, Japan; Neon Parc, Melbourne, Australia; Jecza Gallery, Bucharest and Timisoara, Romania; and MOU PROJECTS, Hong Kong, among others. In addition to those physically located in Eastern cities, galleries and non-profit spaces run by individuals from Eastern diasporas include Rajiv Menon Contemporary, Los Angeles, USA; LATITUDE, New York, USA; and Nunu Fine Art, New York, USA and Taipei, Taiwan. Over 40% of the 171 exhibitors at this year’s fair are showcasing solo or two-artist presentations, allowing for a more focused examination of the curatorial theme.
The 2024 edition of Untitled Art, Miami Beach will welcome its largest exhibitor list to date with a number of first-time participants including Pi Artworks, London, UK and Istanbul, Turkey; Stems Gallery, Brussels, Belgium and Paris, France; Carl Freedman Gallery, Margate, UK; and Galeria Fermay, Palma de Mallorca, Spain. The fair has also expanded its commitment to its ‘Nest’ sector, which offers subsidized booths to mitigate the traditional barriers presented by the cost of art fair participation. This year’s edition will offer the choice between two booth sizes (100 square feet and 150 square feet) to foster even greater accessibility for the galleries that are taking part. New exhibitors in this sector include Negrón Pizarro, San Juan, Puerto Rico; Project K, Seoul, Korea; s t a r c h, Singapore; and IRL Gallery, New York, USA.
Untitled Art also continues its commitment to digital innovation through an increased focus on artists and galleries who embrace new technologies and platforms in their practice, such as TENDER, Brooklyn, USA; bitforms, New York, USA; Kate Vass Galerie, Zurich, Switzerland; and the return of Victoria Miro Projects, London, UK. Visitors from around the world will be able to access Untitled Art, Miami Beach 2024 through online platforms and returning partnerships, encouraging greater accessibility and reach of the fair. Further details of Untitled Art’s 2024 Partners and Prizes, which will revolve around the focus of “East Meets West”, will be announced in October 2024.
Untitled Art additionally extends its support across the art industry to include art critics and writers through its “Untitled Edit” platform aimed at furthering the crucial advancement of art criticism. The initiative, which began in 2022 to reignite Untitled Art’s ‘writers-in-residence’ program, offers paid opportunities for budding and established voices to generate dialogue around themes prominent across this year’s fair. Contributors this year will include, among others: Stephanie Bailey, Writer and Global Editor-at-Large, Ocula; Yonwoo Edie Kim, Independent Curator and Writer; Michael Slenske, Writer, Editor, Curator; and Peifen Sung, Columnist, FT Chinese. A full archive of past essays is available on Untitled Art’s website.
To continue to reduce its environmental impact, Untitled Art is part of the Gallery Climate Coalition and works closely with the City of Miami Beach to ensure a zero-impact presentation. The 2024 fair will also adapt and expand its original Nautilus-inspired pavilion that was custom-designed by Keenen/Riley for Untitled Art’s inaugural edition in 2012.
