The fair presents its largest, most international and diverse program to date, with over $150,000 of prizes awarded to artists and galleries, and ambitious new and returning partnerships

Miami Beach, FL. October 3, 2023 – Untitled Art announces a series of new prizes and partners for its 2023 edition in Miami Beach that align with the two curatorial themes shaping this year’s presentation: “Gender Equality in the Arts” and “Curating in the Digital Age.” This year’s fair accounts for the largest amount of prize money ever to be awarded, totaling a value of over $150,000, with numerous new and returning partners who further the fair’s mission to support the broader art market through an enhanced focus on diversity, inclusivity, and accessibility.

A total of nine prizes will be awarded in 2023 as part of Untitled Art’s commitment to nurturing opportunities for its exhibiting artists, galleries, and non-profit organizations Resy, in partnership with Delta SkyMiles and American Express, joins as a new Official Partner of the 2023 edition and will present pop-up dining experiences curated by Michelin Star and James Beard award-winning chefs; with new Programming Partners including Chargeurs Philanthropies, 99 Canal, and Desert X, plus returning partner For Freedoms. To support art education, Untitled Art will also collaborate with Sotheby’s Institute as its first Education Partner.

2023 Prize Partners:

NEW: The NXTHVN Visiting Artist Prize | New to the 2023 roster of Untitled Art Prize Partners, NXTHVN is a national arts model that empowers artists, curators, and the community through education and access to a vibrant ecosystem. The newly established NXTHVN Visiting Artist Prize will be awarded to an artist exhibiting at Untitled Art, Miami Beach 2023, framed under the fair’s 2023 thematic focus “Gender Equality in The Arts.” The prize will provide an exhibition and two-month-long residency at NXTHVN’s facility in New Haven, CT, with a stipend of $15,000 USD and accommodation. Untitled Art will host a weekend event in October 2024 to coincide with the residency as part of its new series of activations outside Miami Art Week. NXTHVN will also participate in Untitled Art through a panel discussion and via the fair’s ‘Nest’ sector.

NEW: The ‘Nest’ Prize by Platform | Platform, the first digital collecting platform of its kind launched in partnership with David Zwirner, comes aboard this year as a Prize Partner to support the ‘Nest’ Prize by Platform. The eponymous $5,000 prize covers the booth cost for the exhibitor with the best presentation within Untitled Art’s specially subsidized sector designed for emerging galleries. In celebration of the partnership and both curatorial themes celebrating digital innovation and gender equality, Platform will also curate a digital booth of collectable work predominantly by female-identifying artists via Vortic, the fair’s Digital Partner, with the works available for purchase on Platform's website.

NEW: Rado Production Prize | In addition to being one of Untitled Art, Miami Beach 2023’s Official Partners, Rado has established a seating-design competition for one of the fair’s interstitial spaces, which has traditionally featured artist-conceptualized seating as part of the fair’s Special Projects. Open to a specially selected list of artists by Untitled Art’s curatorial team with jury inclusion of Rado, the Rado Production Prize will offer a $5,000 USD production budget to realize the awarded artist’s proposal. Rado is known as the Master of Materials: from high-tech ceramic to sapphire crystal and diamonds to stainless steel, their innovative watches have no boundaries when it comes to design.

NEW: Her Clique Womxn Prize | In honor of the fair’s 2023 curatorial focus, “Gender Equality in the Arts,” Untitled Art welcomes back Her Clique with its inaugural Her Clique Womxn Prize, awarded to an exhibitor with the best booth presenting exclusively female-identifying or non-binary artists. The winning gallery will receive a cash prize of $7,000 USD and will be selected by a jury comprised of the Her Clique team, the Untitled Art Ambassadors Committee, and the fair’s curatorial team. The prize furthers Her Clique’s mission as a New York and Lisbon-based creative space for specially commissioned artworks created by women-identifying and non-binary artists, with profits donated to charity. Proceeds from the limited edition prints, created in conjunction with this partnership during Untitled Art, Miami Beach 2023, will be donated to Planned Parenthood. Her Clique is also participating in a panel discussion at the fair and the prints will be on display as part of this year’s Special Projects sector.

CCA Andratx Artist-in-Residence Prize | CCA Andratx returns to Untitled Art 2023 with its Artist-in-Residence Prize, offering an artist residency opportunity at its facility in Mallorca, Spain. The award covers travel expenses and accommodation for the exhibiting artist, who will be selected by a jury of experts, including an Untitled Art Ambassador. The residency will coincide with Untitled Art’s VIP Weekend event in Palma, slated for June 2024. CCA Andratx is one of the largest contemporary art centers in the Balearic Islands and its Artist-in-Residence program is the true core of the center, hosting four international artists each month with more than 700 artists from 20 different countries having participated over the past 21 years.

Fountainhead Residency Artist Prize | Returning Prize Partner Fountainhead Residency, Miami's preeminent artist residency program, once again partners with Untitled Art on the Fountainhead Residency Artist Prize. In 2023, the prize will align with the fair’s curatorial theme “Gender Equality in the Arts” and offers a one-month residency in November 2023 to two woman-identifying or non-binary artists. The residency also includes living and working accommodations, round-trip airfare, a $1,000 USD stipend, and an extensive career immersion program for the selected artist.

Pébéo Production Prize | Pébéo is a family business that has specialized in creating colors for many years, striking a balance between innovation and an educational approach. Continuing its Prize Partnership with Untitled Art for a second year, the Pébéo Production Prize will award an artist working towards an exhibition at an institution or similar non-profit organization in 2024. Framed within this year’s curatorial focus “Curating in the Digital Age,” the award presents an opportunity to engage with artist practices’ that are influenced by or conceptualized within themes of technology yet are ultimately rendered using traditional painting methods. The prize offers a hybrid $5,000 USD cash award to support development of the exhibition and $5,000 USD of in-kind materials from the Pébéo catalogue.

The Vortic Prize | For its second year as Digital Partner– with an expanded prize format aligned with this year’s curatorial theme “Curating in the Digital Age” – Vortic partners with Untitled Art to sponsor the Vortic Prize, a series of prizes collectively valued at $40,000 to be awarded to three exhibitors that demonstrate a deeper understanding of the digital space and its capabilities for exhibiting art. This collaboration, which will unfold as a series of activations dedicated to participating galleries, stems from Untitled Art and Vortic’s shared commitment to creating a more sustainable and accessible way to curate exhibitions and engage audiences globally. Vortic is also offering participating galleries a dynamic platform to sustainably showcase their work in the form of 3D and virtual extensions of their presentations in Miami - to be hosted on Untitled Art and Vortic’s websites from November 22 until December 29, 2023 and January 26, 2024 respectively, as well as on-site at the fair through a VR experience.

21c Museum Hotels Acquisition Prize | In its second year as a Prize Partner, 21c Museum Hotels – one of the largest contemporary art museums in the United States and North America’s only collecting museum dedicated solely to art of the 21st Century – resumes is 21c Museum Hotels Acquisition Prize, which will acquire up to three works from galleries exhibiting at the 12th edition of Untitled Art. Jury selection will be guided by Untitled Art’s curatorial team, for final selection by the institution’s founders, philanthropists, and collectors, Laura Lee Brown and Steve Wilson, alongside 21c’s Chief Curator, Alice Gray Stites.

2023 Official and Programming Partners:

Leading restaurant reservation platform Resy has joined Untitled Art as an Official Partner to present an exclusive lounge experience available for Untitled VIP attendees. The Resy Lounge brought to you by Delta SkyMiles and American Express will be a beach-front oasis with complimentary bites and beverages curated by James Beard Award and Top Chef winner Stephanie Izard. Delta SkyMiles® Platinum and Platinum Business, Reserve and Reserve Business American Express Card Members will gain access to special perks on-site when they show their Card at entry. Untitled Art VIP ticket holders can secure reservations for The Resy Lounge exclusively through Resy beginning on October 24. Additional Official Partners of Untitled Art, Miami Beach 2023 include Chase Private Client, By Michael Miller, Champagne Pommery, and Rado.

New Programming Partners for 2023 include Chargeurs Philanthropies, a corporate endowment fund promoting education for and access to social and cultural projects around the world, who has provided $5,000 USD to support a program of performances at Untitled Art, including the New York-based artist-run initiative 99 Canal, who will present a project featuring the work of three selected artists that explore themes surrounding gender, ecology, and resilience. Curated by Kyla Gordon, the performances will take place throughout the day during Untitled Art’s VIP and Press preview (Tuesday, December 5th, 2023).Desert X, an organization producing exhibitions that activate desert locations through site-specific installations by international contemporary artists, also joins Untitled Art’s programming this year through a panel conversation and participation in the fair’s podcast. In 2023, Untitled Art will also continue its collaboration with For Freedoms, an artist collective that centers art and creativity as a catalyst for transformative connection and collective liberation, who will participate in a panel discussion and as part of the fair’s Special Projects. Full details of 2023 Programming will be announced in the coming weeks.

As part of the fair’s effort to nurture art education and provide more opportunities for artists, students, and collectors alike, Untitled Art has partnered with Sotheby’s Institute as its first Education Partner. The partnership will be supported via three dedicated on-site panel discussions framed under fair’s 2023 curatorial themes and young collecting. Specific topics will be announced in the run up to the fair.
