"I am interested in the interaction between two and three dimensional space and how their relationship to each other plays with the viewers perception of reality. This interaction of dimensionality is heightened through the use of line, shape and color. Using pattern and repetition, rhythm is created and simultaneously broken up within this architectural space, enabling a kaleidoscope of interactions within the installation. I am particularly interested in the viewers sense of time and space as it relates to their position within the installation. The expansion and contraction of these intersecting lines creates a sense of humming through optical vibrations. Through which the viewer becomes more aware of their movement and position within the space. Creating an interactive dance between design and participant."
Kelley was born in 1973 in Houston, Texas and grew up in St.Louis, Missouri. He received an MFA from Indiana University and a BFA from Parson School of Design.
