EXILE Books will team up with the Center for Subtropical Affairs to feature a new publication “Flora” illustrating local medicinal plants that can be found in Miami’s tropical climate. These two non-profit organizations are neighbors in Little Haiti, and both serve our community in different ways. EXILE has designed a mobile interactive cart that will feature a selection of tropical titles while exhibiting CSTA’s diverse variety of plant specimens. This unique partnership will serve to educate UNTITLED, ART visitors about South Florida’s delicate ecosystem, while engaging the public with a dynamic series of demonstrations that highlight CSTA’s civic ecology program. The Flora cart will decamp at designated locations at UNTITLED, ART and feature a curated selection of independent and self-published artists’ books and zines paired with a custom portable display and seating alongside local tropical foliage. Attendees will be invited to sit, relax, and peruse the printed matter while they learn about rare orchids, mushroom spores, foraging wild edibles, collecting specimens, and other horticultural wonders.
